ISTD: Olympics On Track

Brief: Choose a person or subject and present it based on its key milestones.

I chose the Olympics, and explored eight key features of its history and how they've developed over time. The information is presented in a grid that replicates an athletics track. The entire book is printed on tracing paper in order to give the effect of everything coming together to create a complete image of the Olympics. The book uses Akzidenz Grotesque which was designed in 1896, the same year as the first Modern Olympic Games.
The images fit to the curved grid of the corner of the track, the text fits to the straight lanes of the track.
On years where the Olympics were cancelled due to World Wars, I have used quotes about the announcement of the cancellations and intentional broken the strict grid.
